Teachable Monthly Update April 2017

Laurence Bradford

| Apr 25, 2017

Hey everyone! I can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to over at Teachable so far in April =)

New Features

Customizable Checkout Page Sidebar Elements

We’ve been working long and hard to bring school owners the ability to customize their course checkout pages. And now you can!

This is exciting because studies have shown that the shopping cart abandonment rate is about 75.6% in the US, meaning you could be losing 3/4 of potential students at this stage. People may leave the checkout process for several reasons--whether it's being afraid they won't like the product or not feeling like it's something they really need. However, one thing is certain: being able to personalize your checkout page has huge benefits for you and your student.

You can edit your checkout page on any existing (or new!) course by heading into the course area, and selecting Checkout Page from the course’s submenu.

Once you’re there, you’ll have the ability to edit the following:

Testimonials - add up to two, where you can showcase previous students' successes:

Bullet Points - add up to five bullets of custom text highlighting some of the benefits students will enjoy upon enrolling:

Course Guarantee - add one guarantee from our selection, or write/upload your own:

Here is what your final checkout page could look like:

These new checkout page sidebar elements are completely optional. You can choose to use one, two, all three, or none at all!

Teachable's Massive Course Creation Resource Bundle

This is the most complete free bundle of resources to help you create an online course. Download this and get 167 files to help find your profitable idea, set your pricing, track engagement, and much more.

Quizzes Available on iOS App

We're continuing to improve our iOS app, and this month's biggest new feature was adding quizzes to available app content. Students using the app can take lecture quizzes and see their scores afterward.

Ultimately, this means that students on the app will have the same seamless course experience you've designed, as they can watch the videos, read handouts, and take quizzes all from their phones.

New Unenroll-User Zapier Action

On Zapier, certain Teachable Actions are available to Teachable owners on the Professional plan and higher. The two that already existed were Create New User, where you could set up a trigger event that would create a new student in your school, and Enroll User in Course, where you could trigger course enrollments.

Joining their ranks is the new Unenroll Student From Course action. On the blog, we're going to teach you how to use this action to create time-limited courses or give students short trials.
