Hey everyone! Hope you’ve been having a great month. Here are some of the highlights from the last month. from the team at Teachable.
1) 5 new employees started in March!
We welcomed some more new people to the team this month!
- Sonya Gould as Sales & Strategy Associate
- Tim Kim as Technical Writer
- Roderick Sang and Jess Coppinger as Customer Care Educators
2) Social Media Marketing World Conference
Ankur (CEO), Andrew (VP of Growth), and Jess (Partnerships Manager) spent a few days out in San Diego for Social Media Marketing World. While there, they had the chance to connect with Teachable instructors.
And enjoy some fun in the sun! (I am super jealous as it’s been rainy and cold in NYC this last week!) And, of course, meet up with old friends -- like Pat Flynn from Smart Passive Income!
3) We’re moving (again!)
While it’s been so fun to have worked in Williamsburg, Brooklyn these last 7 months, we’re heading back to Manhattan (Chelsea, to be exact). Our first day in the new digs will be Monday, April 3!
People had been wanting this for a while now, and we were so excited to deliver! With this update, you can now create one coupon that can be used across your entire school--all courses and pricing plans.

Updated email templates
Were you getting sick of the old default emails to students and instructors? So were we. That’s why we totally revamped the copy and design of our 15 email templates. Here’s an example of their new look!
These templates are customizable in Emails > Template Editor.

VAT number input at checkout
We’re still plugging away on refining our VAT collection procedures to comply with EU laws and make things easy for your students. The newest development in that journey: a number input that allows VAT-exempt entities to remove the tax from their purchase by inputting a valid VAT number.

New Gmail inbox action
Email confirmations are now truly one-click processes, thanks to our new inbox actions on Gmail. With this feature, a button is displayed next to the email; students can click it to confirm directly from their inbox. See our Changelog post on it here.
Our Finest Content From The Month
This month the content team worked on creating posts to help all of you lovely folk create and sell the most successful courses possible. One big highlight? We published the most comprehensive report ever created on how to teach online. This post looks at our most successful instructors and breaks down what they did right so you can replicate that success.
Additionally, a few other fantastic posts were published on the blog, including:
Additionally, we held our first ever (!!!) master class for our customers. We walked you through creating a beautiful sales page to help your online course convert better.
Teachable Employee Spotlight
Meet Artashes Filoyan.

About 7 months.

What’s the best thing about your experience working at Teachable?
Working with a creative and highly energetic team where you can see how quickly an initial idea can transform into an actual product improvement or new feature that helps our instructors and students have a better experience.
What’s an interesting Teachable school that you’ve come across?
A great example of unlimited customization is Every-Tuesday.
What are you most excited about going forward?
I am very excited about our upcoming move to a new office. As a startup, we grow quickly. It’s exciting! But we already need more space! :)
What's Happening Next Month
Restoring old pricing plans and coupons
Tired of having to make new pricing plans/coupons every time you close and reopen a course? Problem solved: we’re working on a way to restore deleted pricing plans and coupons. Look for this update to go out within the next few days!
Zapier unenroll action
A new Teachable action will be available on Zapier soon that lets you unenroll users automatically (based on email address). This action will open the door to new possibilities like offering a free trial or even setting up time-limited courses (with a little creativity--look for a blog post on it in the coming weeks!).
Customer Operations advancements
Supporting our instructors is of utmost importance to us. We’ve been growing so quickly that we’re still scrambling to keep up, but we appreciate your patience--and things are happening we think you’ll like! So far this year, we’ve:
- Brought on 7 new team members to the Customer Operations team
- Decreased our time to first reply (within business hours) to under 4 hours
- Continually improved our customer satisfaction rating thanks to these two factors -- it now trends around the 90% mark
Over the course of 2017, we hope to further reduce the time to first reply, build out the Customer Operations team further, introduce weekend support, and much more.
More checkout page improvements
Checkout pages can be just as important as sales pages, and we’re making updates to help yours shine. A few things we’re working on adding include:
- One-click checkout for students, accomplished via shared credit cards between schools that have enabled myTeachable. Meaning if you added a credit card to purchase something on school (A), you'd have the option to use it on school (B).
- Checkout page sidebar customizations on a course-by-course basis -- allowing you to add trust seals, testimonials, and bullet points.
We’re still hiring!
We already have four new people starting in the month of April!
Nonetheless, here are the positions we currently have open:

See you next month!
